About

Tigran is a mathematician and educator from Armenia with more than four years of teaching experience. He won an IMO Bronze Medal in 2018 and received Honourable Mentions in 2019 and 2020, then earned a First Prize at the International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC) in 2022.

He currently teaches at Square Educational Foundation and Mathico School, running maths circles and individual lessons for competition preparation. In 2026 he served as Team Leader of the Armenian team at the European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO) and coached Armenia at the Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (JBMO). He is also a jury member of the Armenian National Mathematics Olympiad.

Tigran Chtchyan brings together strong contest experience and steady classroom teaching. He graduated from Armenia's Specialised Physics and Mathematics School and completed a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics at Yerevan State University. As a contestant he represented Armenia at the International Mathematical Olympiad, winning a Bronze Medal in 2018 and Honourable Mentions in 2019 and 2020. At university level he won a First Prize at the IMC in 2022.

His teaching focuses on students aged 12-16 who want to progress through national olympiad stages and advanced school mathematics. Favourite topics include modular arithmetic, the Chinese Remainder Theorem, Pascal's triangle, stars and bars, polynomials and mass points. Lessons can be one-to-one online, in online groups of up to ten, or as in-person maths circles at schools and camps. He has also run training sessions for experienced teachers.

Beyond day-to-day tuition, Tigran has worked as a team leader and coach for Armenia's olympiad programme, including EGMO 2026 and JBMO 2026, and sits on the jury of the Armenian National Mathematics Olympiad. He teaches in English and Armenian, and is especially strong with students who enjoy olympiad-style problem solving and want a clear pathway from intermediate contests toward harder national and international rounds.

At Exact Science, Tigran is a natural fit for olympiad maths mentoring: careful problem selection, patient explanation of core ideas, and the contest mindset needed to turn school mathematics into genuine problem-solving strength.
