ProgrammingWeekly course

Practical AI

Use AI tools in real workflows with a clear mental model of what the systems are doing, so you can ship work without guessing.

About this course

A project-based course for early-career professionals who want AI in their workflow as a reliable system: tools and implementation first, with enough of how it works that you never feel lost.

Over eight weeks you will ship three working systems: a Communication OS, a Research & Decision Pack, and one Live Workflow used on real work with a measured gain. You will build a clear mental model of capabilities, context, and failure modes, then put it to work.

Weekly plan

Follow the course from first principles to finished work

Project

01

Weeks 1–3

Communication OS

email, docs, and meeting templates that preserve your voice and include human checkpoints.
  1. Week01

How it works enough (then audit your week)

    Mental model before tooling.

    What you'll learn
capabilities vs limits; context and hallucination in workplace terms; map tasks into automate / accelerate / advise / avoid.
    What you'll make
audit of your real week + project shortlist.
    Tools you'll use
    one frontier chat model.
  2. Week02

    Briefing, verification, and unsafe domains

    Briefs that survive bad inputs.

    What you'll learn
what “context” means in practice; spec writing; second-opinion patterns; legal, HR, and client-fact risk.
    What you'll make
    verification checklist for your role.
    Tools you'll use
    chat + checklist templates.
  3. Week03

    Writing and communication OS

Usable templates, not a style guide nobody opens.

    What you'll learn
voice preservation; meeting notes → action items; templates with human checkpoints.
    What you'll make
Communication OS v1 used on live threads.
    Tools you'll use
    chat + email/docs.

Project

02

Weeks 4–5

Research & Decision Pack

a repeatable briefing → memo pipeline with sources and verification steps.
  1. Week04

    Research and analysis

    Structure before prose.

    What you'll learn
briefings, scans, structured outputs, decision memos; check one number yourself every time.
    What you'll make
first decision memo from real inputs.
    Tools you'll use
    chat + sheets/docs.
  2. Week05

    Knowledge systems

    Reusable context, not chat archaeology.

    What you'll learn
personal wiki as RAG-lite; memory hygiene; keeping context clean.
    What you'll make
    Research & Decision Pack v1.
    Tools you'll use
Projects / files-as-context (Notion, Drive, or similar).

Project

03

Weeks 6–8

Live Workflow

one automated or agent-assisted job workflow used on real work, with an ROI note and 30-day maintenance plan.
  1. Week06

    Automation and light agents

    Thin automation with brakes.

    What you'll learn
scheduled digests, intake forms; when to stop and hire a developer.
    What you'll make
    workflow sketch with human checkpoints.
    Tools you'll use
    Zapier / Make / n8n + LLM steps.
  2. Week07

    Build for your role

    Real work only.

    What you'll learn
deep work on one live job task end-to-end.
    What you'll make
Live Workflow mid-build on a real job task.
    Tools you'll use
role-track tools (ops, marketing, PM, or technical-adjacent / Cursor).
  3. Week08

    Demo day

Prove the system on live work.

    What you'll learn
live demo; ROI note (time saved / quality improved / risk reduced); maintenance checklist.
    What you'll make
Live Workflow shipped + 30-day plan.
    Tools you'll use
full stack of your three projects.
