About the role

We are looking for someone with genuine mathematical depth, serious competition experience and the judgement to explain mathematics clearly to children. You will help students develop their own ideas, prepare thoughtfully for competitions and enjoy the process of solving a hard problem.

What you will do

  • Coach students through olympiad problems in individual and group lessons.
  • Adapt explanations to the student rather than rushing to a polished solution.
  • Plan the next useful challenge and share concise observations after lessons.
  • Work with the wider teaching team to maintain a coherent path for each student.

What you will need

  • Strong mathematical background and evidence of serious competition experience.
  • Clear, patient communication with children and teenagers.
  • Sound teaching judgement and a willingness to learn from feedback.
  • Reliability and care in preparation and follow-through.

Nice to have

  • Olympiad awards or national team experience.
  • Experience teaching UKMT or olympiad pathways.
  • Experience writing or reviewing mathematical solutions.

Application process

  1. Submit your background, CV and a short mathematical explanation.
  2. We review the mathematical work and teaching approach.
  3. Selected applicants will be invited to a conversation and a teaching task.
